Things I learned about myself in 2020
- I love cozy outfits. Now that I’ve transitioned to working from home loungewear has been my uniform. I probably own over 15 sets of pajamas, sweat sets or matching loungewear.
- My body needed a break from stress. I used to tense up from traffic driving into work. I’d wake up at 5:30am and not go to bed until 9 or 10pm and was busy the entire day checking off my to do list. I was overworking myself and never took a break to relax and unwind. I really took this year to listen to my body and stopped being so hard on myself.
- I really love coffee. Like a lot! It was only 1.5 years ago I started drinking it, mostly to warm up each morning. Now I’m obsessed. I try new drinks and I make it a point to visit a new coffee shop in each city I visit.
- I used to be the ‘yes girl’. Given Covid-19 and quarantine life it brought me some perspective on how much I used to want to please everyone around me. I used to say yes to nearly every invitation I received to brunch, birthday dinners, shopping dates, or trips. This year I only spent time with those who I love and genuinely enjoy their company. I gotta say it feels so good to keep those you love close and not worrying about everyone else.
- I’m really bad at compromise. But I’m working on it. Compromise is the key to a good relationship whether that be a friendship, a significant other, work or family. Compromise was the most prominent in my love life and I’ve learned more about myself in the process both the good and the bad.
- I was born to be a dog mom. Bella came into my life in May and has stolen my heart and all of my love.
2021 – My Word of The Year
Instead of a new year resolution I thought I’d share the word I’ve chosen to live by in 2021. I got this idea from Lauren Lindmark and decided why not give it a go!
After thinking about what I wanted for my life and future I chose the word creation. The exact definition is “the action or process of bringing something into existence”. Like Lauren I decided to also purchase a ring with this word to help me manifest and remind myself of my mantra for this year.
SHOP my exact ring along with few others all under $25 below.
The word creation seems fitting for me at this stage in my life for many reasons. I am a content creator and I’d really love to dedicate more time to creating meaningful and purposeful content that really resonates with like minded women.
Procreation is constantly on my mind. Why not affirm the creation of life into the universe. I have that motherly instinct and now I’m just patiently waiting for God’s timing to harmoniously fit motherhood into my life.
I’d also like to cultivate new and meaningful relationtionships in my life. This year I have met and become friends with three local bloggers and I’m so thankful for their support and friendship. I’d really like to continue to create genuine friendships and possibly a community to share ideas and offer support with other women who are all trying to navigate in the same space.
I’m working on a certificate in Human Resource Management at San Diego State University. With the completion of this certificate I’d like it to help create job opportunities or career advancement. As well as professional growth.
This year I really want to focus on creating new memories and experiences. We weren’t able to travel much this year so I’ll need to make due with what we can do given restrictions. I don’t need to go far to create weekend trips with loved ones or create lasting memories with Bella and Ray.
Creating innovative ideas and lasting relationships is the core of my word for 2021. I’m excited to see the change in my life based on the word I am choosing to live by.
What is your word for the year?
Lauren Lindmark says
LOVE the word you chose!! Thanks for the shout-out 🙂 Happy New Year, beauty!
