I’ve never set a New Year Resolution. This year I decided why not start in the new decade. Something about the year 2020 has me feeling very optimistic. I’m sharing my three New Year Resolutions with ya’ll. So here’s to holding myself accountable and making sh*t happen!
One: Save $$$
I’ve never been one to look at my finances at the beginning of the year and plan for the year ahead. However, I think it’s time look at them wholistically to get a better perspective on what is important to me in 2020. I’d like to save for big ticket items like a bathroom remodel, a few vacations and a new car. I don’t think ALL of these items will be purchased this year, but I definitely want to work towards saving for them. I want to set a realistic goal of how much I’d like to save by the end of the year. Then look at my finances and cut back on items I don’t use regularly like subscriptions, eating out, or silly things I use once or really don’t need. Small cutbacks and purchases with intent will help me reach this goal.
Two: Wellness
I’m not one to think of wellness as something I need improvement on, but boy was I wrong. Towards the end of 2019 I realized my wellness which includes, mental health, work life balance, healthy eating, sleep and relaxation were not a priority of mine. And my body really took a toll. I’ve used the last few weeks to try to get back on track. I was restless, I had a lot of anxiety, I was stressed and I knew I was over working myself. My body shutdown. This was the biggest sign that wellness needs to be a focus of mine in 2020. I’d like to unplug a few times a month. I mean completely ditch my phone and all electronics for a day or two. I enjoy hiking and being outdoors so maybe these can go hand in hand. I’d also like to take a day to relax – this may consist of a spa day or just lounging in pajamas binge watching a new TV show with takeout. Or reading a book by the ocean waiting for the sunset. I’d also like to continue meal planning to help with my effort in weight loss. I’m pretty close to my goal weight, this year I’d like to reach that goal. I’ve also started a new gym which is really intense, even for me, an athlete by nature. I’d like to be consistent with my physique as much as what I put into my body. Lastly, I need to put more focus on my mental health. Over the last two years I’ve noticed my stress levels and anxiety rise. I’m not sure what is the root cause of this but I need to explore ways to control it. I need to find what works for me to help destress and reset.
Three: Blog Consistency
This is still new territory for me as I haven’t quite hit one year of blogging, yet. However, I have learned so much over the last ten months. I’ve taught myself new skills, I’d like to think I’ve become a better writer and I think I’ve been able to tap into my creative side. But if there is one thing I’ve learned is the need to be consistent. When I started my blog I had no idea what I was doing, and if we are being honest, I still don’t. Ha. What I do know is that I was very inconsistent on what I published. My readers don’t know when to expect new content from me. I’d like to change that. I’ve already started planning out the year, but it’s more than just planning. I want to create content with more intent of what I want readers to know and take away from each post. My focus is fashion which honestly makes me happy and is the reason I started this blog. I want to share more of what I love with all of you. Being consistent and blogging with intention are my goals for 2020.
I also wanted to share with you my mantra for 2020. Believe in his plans and see his path. While I was shopping for a weekly planner to help with goal #3 this one spoke to me. It’s everything I want in my life for this year. I hear by writing down your thoughts and goals helps to set intention. And that is exactly what I’m doing here and now. Setting intention for this year.
Well that’s a wrap ladies and gents. I hope you feel inspired and are ready to conquer the year! I’d love to hear what your 2020 Resolutions are. Feel free to leave a comment below.
XOXO,
Marissa
