Have you been in a funk lately? I have. There is a lot happening in the world and in my life. As you age you see the world differently. Things that mattered to you before are no longer important. Your priorities shift. Things that once brought you joy in life no longer do. And you know what? That’s ok! Go with it.
I needed to make a change in my life. Mostly in how I had been viewing life the past four months. And I knew this change had to start with me.

I use this as a daily reminder to embrace the change and unknowns life has to offer. Be present, stay grounded and feel your emotions. It’s ok to have bad days and cry for no reason. Heck, I do it ALL the time (not kidding). Enjoy the little things in life. Stop doing things that make you unhappy. Be scared, and do whatever it is that makes you scared anyways. Just be YOU while doing it.
Here are FIVE easy tips I’ve started doing throughout the week. They’ve been a huge help in getting me out of this funk and back to living a happier lifestyle.
- Hug your loved ones & tell them you love them.
- Say hi to a stranger.
- Get outdoors! The sunshine and fresh air are sure to brighten your day.
- Smile. This can instantly change your mood.
- Take 20 mins a day for YOU, to do whatever makes you happy. It can be a walk around your neighborhood. Doing some online shopping. Taking a bath to relax. Read a book you’ve been eyeing. Take a nap and dream. Anything goes as long as it’s true to YOU and your happiness.
