Orfila

I’m so lucky to live in a city with so much to do! Recently, I was apart of my sister’s Bachelorette and it lead me to a new city girl adventure. I was pleasantly surprised by my visit to Orfila Vineyards & Winery. Firstly, this place is a hidden gem. I wouldn’t even think to go to a winery in San Diego. Secondly, it’s so close to home and seriously makes for the cutest date night or like us a girls day out.

The venue itself was on the smaller side. There was a tasting room inside, a wall full of wine barrels, a gift shop and some antique furniture and decor placed along the room. Nothing overly impressing, however, the ambiance and highlight of this place is outside of the winery. There is a covered patio alongside a grassy hill which overlooks the vineyards. Seriously, the most stunning views. There was additional wine barrels used as standing tables, there were even lights strung outside which was a nice touch. 

While we visited there was a live musician playing the saxophone, probably the most impressive saxophone player I’d ever witnessed. I’d likely go back just to see him again. He was that good! Over the weekend there were also a few vendors who set up tables selling cheese and other small knick-knacks. 

As the day continued the more people started to crowd the winery. Once the tables filled up I saw many people lay out blankets on the grassy area. Some packed a picnic (the stinking cutest, right?!) and others had a book to read while sipping on wine and soaking up the sun. 

I’m not much of a wino but I do appreciate the atmosphere that comes along with drinking wine. Usually, it takes place outside with beautiful views and weather, good music and food are almost always included. Orfila superseded all my expectations and really left me wanting to return, maybe on a date next time (wink wink). 

After living near and in San Diego most of my life, I continue to find new places to visit and new things to do. Stay tuned for more city girl adventures as I continue to live the tourist life here in sunny San Deigo.
